Geeks vs Guardians Brings Community Together

Thomas University hosted its annual Geeks vs Guardians 5K Fun Run during Homecoming on November 4.

TU’s students, faculty, and staff (the geeks) participated in a friendly competition against current and former members of the armed forces (the guardians), according to age groups.

43 runners lined up at the starting line and raced on a course that started on the Forbes Campus, at the corner of Pinetree Boulevard and Millpond Road and winded through the neighborhood north and east of campus.

“The second annual Thomas University Geeks versus Guardian 5K race was a great success,” Stephen Ferguson, Vice President for Military and Corporate Relations, said. “This year’s race included almost double the amount of runners and participation from the executive leadership of the Georgia National Guard. I am pleased with the turnout and competitive nature of the race. We had a great showing from all age groups, and we look forward to a successful race next year.”

The event was more than just a competition, however. It brought the community together and celebrated the military.
