TU’s Kappa Delta Pi Students Assist Local Schools
Post Published On:Thomas University’s Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) Education Honor Society started its first annual clothing drive.
The clothing drive is designed to promote both awareness and support for schools in Thomasville and surrounding areas. Some of the items that were donated to schools were shirts, pants, and shoes, among other things.
“The clothing drive has thrived with more than six schools having clothing donated to them by the KDP chapter at Thomas University,’ KDP President Tiana Villagomez said. “This clothing drive creates community between the University and the communities surrounding the university.”
In addition to the clothing drive, KDP also started Clothes Closet to serve students at Clinch County High School.
KDP Vice President Kelsie Staten said Clothes Closet provides students access to a plethora of clothing items from shoes and socks to hats and scarves in a variety of sizes.
“Any student is eligible to reach out to our designated staff members and visit the Clothes Closet for any of their needs,” she said. “We also implemented Clothes Closet for dress code violations so that students do not have to call home or miss key instructional time when they may be out of dress code.”
The honor society is comprised of members who are both on-campus students and online students working towards their undergraduate or graduate degrees in Education.
